This bird comes from Central Africa and lives in areas up to an altitude of 4500 meters. This vulture is named after the German zoologist Eduard Rüppel. This vulture has a dark appearance, unlike the griffon vulture. This vulture is on average 85-103 cm long and weighs between 6.5 and 9 kg. This young vulture has dark brown irises, adult Rüppel vultures have light yellow eyes. With their large, sharp beaks, they easily tear off the meat from the carcass. This vulture is the highest flying bird in the world and has been seen at almost 10 kilometres altitude.
