Rustic stone house in Turri, Sardinia

by Tiziana Cambarau

This photograph captures a rustic stone house in Sardinia, where traditional architecture and everyday objects come together to tell a story of rural life. A weathered wooden ladder stands against the natural stone wall, decorated with colourful flower boxes that bring life and contrast to the warm textures of the building. Woven baskets, wooden tools, and a small table complete the scene, offering a glimpse into a simpler way of living shaped by tradition and craftsmanship.
What attracted me to this composition was the balance between the rough surfaces of the stone, the aged wood, and the delicate colours of the flowers. Every element has a purpose, yet together they create a scene that feels welcoming and timeless. The soft natural light highlights the textures and details that make these traditional homes so distinctive.
For me, this image represents the beauty of everyday life and the enduring character of Sardinia's rural villages. It is not a famous landmark or a dramatic landscape, but a quiet corner that reflects the island's cultural heritage and authentic atmosphere.
With its warm tones, natural materials, and rustic charm, this artwork brings a sense of comfort, character, and mediterranean warmth into any interior.
