On the banks of the sacred Bagmati River, Kathmandu is home to one of the largest Hindu temples: the Shiva temple of Pashupatinath.
Pashupatinath is a place where public cremations of deceased people take place, after which the ashes are swept into the river. The bigger the wood pile, the richer the person (and/or family) was. At Pashupatinath, you will find many Sadhu's: holy men completely dedicated to achieving spiritual liberation through meditation.
