The Samurai were the officers and/or nobility of the warrior class of Japan from medieval times right up until almost the end of the nineteenth century. The word Samurai comes from the Japanese word Saburau and they were also known as bushi or buke. The Samurai were actually quite spiritual, with various religious influences on their creed and were fiercely loyal to their clan and their lord.
