About ‘Samurai - Jidai matsuri in Kyoto’ by Astrid Meulenberg

The Jidai matsuri is one of Kyoto's biggest festivals. It includes a parade in which participants are dressed in authentic costumes from the Edo period, between 1603 and 1868. The first festival was organised in 1895, 1100 years after Kyoto was founded and mainly out of fear that Kyoto would lose its status when the capital was moved to Edo (present-day Tokyo). The festival starts early in the morning with the display of the mikoshi (the portable shrines) carried from the old Imperial Palace. The five-hour procession begins in the afternoon, with about two thousand participants dressed as samurai, military figures and the 'normal' people in costumes that are often centuries old.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
