I did not want to 'freeze the dynamics of a foraging sanderling'by a short exposure time. Sanderlings are constantly running back and forth in the foam and water thrown onto the beach by the waves. In order to still work with a long shutter speed without using a grey filter, I went out when there was hardly any light. It was mid-November, it had snowed a bit, and there was a strong wind. That produced this image, which shows not only movement of the bird but also the movement of the water. This picture was taken on the beach at Castricum aan Zee.
