Colourful parrots are fairly common in Costa Rica, the red macaw more often than the green variety. This macaw was photographed in the Corcovado National Park, just behind the beach of the Pacific Ocean. They are beautiful colorful birds that often make themselves heard loudly when they are in large groups or during their food. Their screams then buzz through the rainforest. Parrots live a monogamous life. Once they have found a partner, they stay together forever.
This parrot takes care of its spread feathers in the shade of a canopy of leaves. It's wonderful to see how each feather is pulled along the beak.
