The Schreckhorn and the Lauteraarhorn are two impressive mountains in the Swiss Alps, and well known in the Bernese Oberland region.
The Schreckhorn (4,078 metres) is the easternmost of the mountains that make up the Finsteraarhorn massif. The Lauteraarhorn (4,042 metres), just west of the Schreckhorn, is slightly lower, but equally spectacular with its steep, pristine rock faces and glaciers surrounding the mountain.
Both mountains are popular targets for experienced alpinists, due to the technical difficulty of the climbs and the region's unpredictable weather.
