About ‘Screen print of Paris’ by Arjen Roos

Paris, the city of art, architecture and history, comes to life in Silkscreen Paris, a digital interpretation of traditional silkscreen techniques. This work combines iconic Parisian structures - including Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower - in a layered and dynamic image, with expressive grain and imperfections that mimic the charm of artisanal printing techniques.

This work grew out of my research into screen printing techniques, both physical and digital. I delved into screen printing with gelplate and acrylic, and explored how such printing processes could be replicated in a digital environment. The result is a digital Risograph-inspired artwork, in which I added intentional irregularities, noise and grain to emphasise the handmade effect. This is not a razor-sharp print, but an artwork that carries the authentic charm of a screen print - an aesthetic where the imperfections contribute to its distinctive look.

The overlay of architectural elements and the contrasting colour areas create a rhythmic interplay that feels both vintage and modern. Perfect for lovers of graphic art, architecture and printing techniques, this piece makes a powerful statement in any interior.
