Sculptural Monstera with Ochre Sun

by MARTINA KUSUMA DEWI

"A single sculptural Monstera leaf dominates this composition, spreading outward in broad lobes with elongated natural openings. Its layered greens move from pale sage and olive to deep forest tones, creating rich contrast against the softly textured ivory background. A muted ochre sun sits high behind the leaf, while cropped botanical and geometric shapes at the edges add a subtle sense of framing.

The artwork is built around the dramatic silhouette of the central leaf. Its sweeping contours and visible central vein give the composition a strong botanical identity, while the surrounding circles and curved blocks introduce a modern abstract structure. Thick, directional brushwork creates an impasto-inspired finish across both the foliage and background, making surface texture an important part of the visual experience.

With its restrained earthy palette and bold botanical form, this piece is well suited to organic modern interiors, Japandi spaces, and contemporary rooms with natural materials. It works particularly well where a single large botanical subject can provide a calm but distinctive focal point."
