About ‘Sea Glass I’ by Franka Poulain

A rhythmic surface of rounded, translucent forms in sea green, grey and soft white. Sea Glass I lies somewhere between shells, mother-of-pearl, pebbles and an abstract landscape. The repetition of the small organic forms makes the piece almost tactile: as if light were filtering through hundreds of thin layers of material. The soft shades of green evoke a sense of calm, whilst subtle variations in transparency and texture prevent the work from becoming static. The result is minimalist and natural, yet at the same time luxurious and refined. A serene abstract piece that pairs well with wood, natural stone, linen and other natural materials.
