On New Zealand's southern island, sea lions are increasingly making their mark on daily life. Due to a birth wave, there are many more animals than usual.
New Zealanders are trying to adapt as best they can.
Although more sea lions are being born, the animal is still endangered. The number of sea lions on mainland New Zealand was virtually zero for over a century. In the 1990s, they tentatively returned. And recent years have seen a noticeable increase.
