Sometimes you just get lucky and are in the right place at the right time. This time I was lucky. Due to the somewhat poor weather, I drove around Texel by car to visit all the bird-watching spots. I was driving on the Wadden Sea side near de Cocksdorp. I saw 4 containers with a seal in each one. It was immediately clear that these would be put in the wild by employees and donors of Ecomare Texel. Quickly parked my car and headed towards the spot where everything would take place. What struck me was that there was very little public present. There appears to be no publicity for moments like these. A lot of public is not good for the animals. The animals were released by volunteers and donors. At first, the seals were still a bit shy but this changed quickly when they realised what was intended. A nice moment to witness, though.
