Together with another photographer, we spent a week travelling through the Dolomites in search of the most beautiful locations for landscape photography. The challenge was mainly to remain original since many photos of these locations have already been taken. My goal was therefore to make unique images that add something extra to the whole, in order to tell my story about my experience in this beautiful mountain range. In part, you can think and plan a lot in advance (ideas for compositions, time of day, position of the sun, etc.). Apart from that, there is always 1 big element we cannot influence and that is the weather. Then you have to be a bit lucky if you have limited time. Consequently, this was not an easy photo to take. At this location, we could only shoot the sunset once and the sunrise once. With a bag full of camera gear, the hike from the mountain hut to the summit was very steep and tough, especially if you have to do this hike twice within a time frame of eight hours. To be in time for sunrise, we set the alarm at 03:00 at night. Pretty tough when you don't get back from photographing the sunset until 23:30 that night. But with a bit of willpower you can get quite far As you can see in the photo, it was a beautiful sunrise with just enough veil clouds for that extra bit of atmosphere, the beautiful golden light streaming over mountains and just that bit of grass o
