About ‘Self-portrait with Her Daughter’ by Low Profile

"Self-portrait with Her Daughter, Julie (Jeanne Julie Louise)" (style Lowpoly) inspiration from a painting by Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun in 1786

According to his autobiography, the American painter John Trumbull (1756-1843) saw the unfinished painting in Vigée Le Brun's studio at the Hôtel de Lubert on August 10, 1786. It was sold before the Revolution, along with the portrait of Hubert Robert, for a price never fully paid, to the former tax farmer, court banker, and keeper of the royal treasury, Jean Joseph, Marquis de La Borde (1724-1794). Register of receipts of works of art and antiques found among the possessions of émigrés and convicts. Later, it passed into the collection and was donated by Madame Le Franc, a tripe seller, in accordance with the wishes of her aunt, Madame Vigée Le Brun, in 1843.
