Sheep fines are indispensable in the Texel landscape. These characteristic sheds are scattered across the island - always with the flat side facing east - and were formerly used to store cattle feed. Many of them have now fallen into disrepair, but some have been restored and are now even listed as monuments.
What is striking about the sheep-fines on Texel, is that they are all built with the flat side to the (north)east. The reason for this is that the wind on Texel mainly comes from the (south)west. So the entrance door to the fine is always in the lee. source wikipedia
