The Drents-Friese Wold is the second largest contiguous forest area of the country and lies on the border of Friesland and Drenthe. A forest full of variety, with marsh and drifting sand, with fens and heath, with round fields and flowering stream valleys.
In 2000, more than 6,000 hectares of woodland, heathland, shifting sands and brook dalgraslanden designated a National Park.
