The Siberian squirrel in Tilburg
If you pay close attention, you may discover a special guest in this park: the Siberian squirrel.
Originally this small rodent comes from the forests of Russia and East Asia, but in Tilburg a group has been living in the wild for many years.
With their striped backs, bulging cheek pouches and quick movements, they are easy to spot. They like to eat nuts, seeds, berries and sometimes insects. In autumn, they stockpile in the ground - and sometimes forget where they hid everything. In this way, they even help new plants grow!
