The Oyster Dam is the longest dam of the Delta Works. It is also one of the most inland dams. The Oyster Dam is located a few kilometers west of the city of Bergen op Zoom, in the far east of the Oosterschelde. The road connects Tholen with Zuid-Beveland, creating the Zoommeer. Due to its eccentric position in the road network, the road on the dam is one of the quietest in the country. The dam is 10.5 km long and usually 80 to 100 meters wide, but is much wider at low tide because parts of the Oosterschelde run dry. The Oyster Dam also allows for a tidal water link between the port of Antwerp and the Rhine, via the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. On the northern side of the dam is a small sluice
