Silence by candlelight

by BBGalerie24

The artwork depicts a group of six textured pillar candles of varying heights, standing on a rustic, patinated ledge. The majority of the candles are in light, cream and sand-coloured tones, complemented by two darker, anthracite-coloured candles which create an attractive contrast. Gently flickering flames bathe the scene in a warm light. In the upper left-hand corner of the roughly plastered, wall-like background, delicate black Asian characters and a red seal can be seen.

The inspiration for this work stemmed from a need for inner peace and a longing for a place of retreat in a fast-paced world. The aesthetics of wabi-sabi and Far Eastern Zen practices, which celebrate the beauty of imperfection and the power of silence, served as the central guiding principle.

The artwork exudes an extremely warm, peaceful and cosy atmosphere. It conveys a deep sense of security, mindfulness and peace of mind.

The message of the work is an invitation to pause and reflect. The characters symbolise ‘silence’ or ‘peace’ and remind the viewer to find moments of reflection and to take a deep breath in everyday life.

It is a richly detailed, digitally created composition in a mixed-media style that deceptively realistically mimics the tactile texture of rough wall plaster, coarse candle wax and subtle lighting effects.

This artwork comes into its own in spaces designed for relaxation, such as bedrooms, wellness areas, meditation rooms or cosy living rooms. It harmonises beautifully with natural materials, warm wood tones and minimalist, Asian-inspired or modern-rustic design.
