The Siq is a spectacular, narrow gorge that serves as the main entrance to the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. 1.2 km long and framed by sandstone walls some 80 metres high, this natural gorge offers a unique experience. As you make your way along this winding corridor, you are enveloped in a mystical atmosphere. The warm, changing colours of the rocks, in shades of red, orange and gold, contrast with the blue sky, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle. All along the way, relics carved into the walls, such as votive niches and ancient water channels, bear witness to the genius of the Nabataeans, the builders of Petra.
At the end of the Siq, an iconic sight is revealed: the famous Treasury, or Al-Khazneh, which suddenly appears, like a reward after this spellbinding walk. This place is much more than a passageway; it's a masterly introduction to one of UNESCO's World Heritage gems. Each step in the Siq is a plunge into history and a silent dialogue with nature.
