It is never more than three elements. beach, sea, sky. But there is an infinite variation between and with those three. Here a spring day where the sky breaks up into blue, high clouds and below them a heavy sky that darkens from bright white through light grey with a suspicion of rain in the shadows below to the thick dark line on the horizon that marks like a heavy black line where the sea begins. The narrow stripe of sea where the light from the left reflects silver to a steel-grey hue on the left and close to the beach the surf breaks into an alternation of dark and white where the waves curl. Small waves because it is almost windless despite the heavy clouds. And before that, the cloud reflects in the wet sand that colours darkly and is formed by the water flowing away from the ebbing tide. Just in front in the wet brown sand still men. The imprint of the tracks. The beach tents are built up, the season can begin.
