This Small Firefly (Lycaena phlaeas) was tucking into the nectar of the Daisy (Bellis perennis). It colours beautifully against the green leaves of the Common Reed (Phragmites australis). The beautiful orange colour combined with dark brown makes it a nicely balanced photo. This photo was taken in polder Twaalfmorgen near Reeuwijk. You can feel Spring coming off this photo. The butterflies taking flight and visiting fields and roadsides with their colourful wings. That colour of the wings is not because there is colour itself in the wings, but because sunlight is reflected in other ways. As a result, we as humans see a certain colour. Butterflies are also a symbol of love. Having butterflies in your stomach when you are in love. This picture aims to give love to each other and be kind and nice to each other. Be good to each other and don't hate each other.
