An abstract work I created with oil pastel over an acrylic paint underlay.
Made in summer on a warm and sunny day.
The whole is light through the use of colour and flat distribution and gains depth through the use of dark colours and thickness of how I applied the paint and oil pastel to the canvas.
I like abstract works because it gives me freedom in creating something new. Without knowing in advance exactly what it is going to be. The painting process itself fascinates me enormously.
As a result, I always make something different, discover new ways of working.
Often my attention also stays longer with abstract works by other image-makers.
I also like the fact that the viewer is given the space to add their own interpretation to the painting.
This painting gives me a light and optimistic feeling that is in motion.
