Beautiful view of the Geirangerfjord in Norway. This fjord, with impressively steep and high walls, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The photo was taken from the Dalsnibba viewpoint at 1500 meters altitude. It is also the highest viewpoint of a fjord in Europe that you can reach by road. From Geiranger, the village in the valley on the water, you drive to Dalsnibba via the Geirangervegen, a national tourist route (road number 63). The road winds up slowly and in that time you can really enjoy the surrounding mountains, rocks and waterfalls. Once at the top of the Dalsnibba viewpoint, the view of the deep fjord and the high mountains is extremely impressive, especially when there is still snow on the tops of the mountains.
On the day the photo was taken, we left the Daalen Gaard Camping. Those are the houses that you still see in the lower center of the photo in the green meadows before the mountains begin. We camped there for a few days and looked up at the snow-capped peaks of Dalsnibba every time, not knowing that there was such a beautiful view over the whole Geiranger area. We had already gotten the tip to visit Dalsnibba and we really liked being able to see the campsite from that vantage point.
I enjoy taking pictures of nature, from colorful flowers to the vast landscapes of Scotland and Norway. Photos of European cities can also be found in my shop. Whatever photos they are, I create them with the idea that they really add atmosphere to your home or workplace... Read more…
