Squirrels, I can't get enough of them. They are so cute, adorable and furry! Every time I visit a wooded area, I secretly hope to come across a squirrel. Ideally, I then have my camera handy because these quick, energetic animals only give you a split second to get that perfect shot, especially when they shoot through the trees.

Last morning, during a walk in the Meijendel nature reserve in Wassenaar, I was at my beck and call. It was foggy and bitterly cold, the kind of cold that makes water droplets stick to your nose. As I warmed my hands, I saw something moving in the corner of my eye. Very quietly, almost on instinct, I grabbed my camera. And there it was: a tiny squirrel, flying swiftly climbing a tree and nestling briefly on a branch. The moment was brief but magical, and I managed to capture a few beautiful clicks.
