I was in doubt about posting this picture since I am convinced that I was standing in the middle while taking it but that lamp seems to be out of the middle, and I can't stand that! Haha! A friend compared a picture he took here with mine and had the same issue, so it must be a construction error ;-)
The castle is built in the early 20th century. The design however is based on 18th century architecture. The client wanted to emulate rich and noble families of the Ancien Regime. When World War I started the castle was just finished but uninhabited. The Germans confiscated the castle and used it as a prison. The castle was heavily damaged during the war. Even the floor of the castle was used as firewood. After World War 1 most of the castle was renovated.
