This naked model stands upright on this nude portrait. The woman is exposed in the corner of the room with her hands behind her hips against her buttocks.
The face of the portrait is frontal and therefore the hips, belly, torso and breasts are exposed and visible. The eroticism and sensuality radiates from it, although the stripe over the bosom gives an idea of sado masochism.
Rudolf Levy (15 July 1875, Stettin, Prussia, Germany - January 1944, Italy or Auschwitz) was a German expressionist painter of Jewish descent.
During the First World War he volunteered and fought as a German soldier in Artois and Flanders. He received the Iron Cross in 1915. Eventually he settled in Berlin. He was transported to Auschwitz in WW2. It is generally believed that he died during the transport, but may have survived until he arrived there.
