Aladin is a Chinese tailor's son and who lives on the streets. He steals to survive. One day, a magician arrives from Africa, saying he is an uncle. Together they go on a journey to the desert. There, the magician makes Aladin descend into a cave to retrieve a special lamp. Aladin is not allowed to touch anything except the lamp. But he takes as many treasures as he can along the way in the cave, making it almost impossible for him to get to the top. This makes the magician so angry that he closes the cave.
Aladin has been given a ring by the magician for emergencies. The moment he turns the ring, a ghost appears and takes Aladin home. Later, when Aladin's mother polishes the lamp, a jinn appears who is able to grant wishes and who, by doing so, can help them out of trouble time and again.
