About ‘Stonehenge’ by Ray63

Stonehenge, located in Wiltshire, England, is a prehistoric monument consisting of a ring of upright stones, known as sarsens, topped by horizontal capstones. It was built in several stages between about 3000 and 1600 B.C. The smaller blue stones were placed first, around 3000 B.C., and come from the Preseli Hills in Wales, more than 200 kilometres away. Later, around 2500 BC, the larger sarsen stones, from the Marlborough Downs, some 25 kilometres north, were erected in their present formation. Stonehenge's exact function remains a mystery, but archaeologists suspect it was a ceremonial site, possibly related to funerals, astronomical observations or religious rituals, and recently a role as a monument to unify the population of the time has also been suggested. The remarkable architecture and the immense effort required to transport and erect the stones make Stonehenge one of the most iconic and enigmatic relics of prehistoric times.

Born in 1963. When I was young I really liked drawing with pencil. Left it alone for a long time, but since 2015 I picked up drawing again. Working with dry drawing techniques I like very much. Especially working with charcoal has my big preference. Easy to steer, immediate results and you can work a bit more coarse, which contributes to the lively organic expression.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
