Stones of Silence

by Color Square

This abstract artwork depicts a collection of organic shapes reminiscent of smooth river stones, scattered across a deep, dark background. The rounded white and grey-blue areas appear to float between light and shadow, creating a subtle sense of depth and movement. Despite its simple composition, the work possesses a strong spatial quality that effortlessly guides the eye through the image.

The forms vary slightly in size, direction and hue, creating a natural rhythm. The soft transitions between white, ice-blue and grey tones give each form a sculptural quality. As a result, the objects do not appear to lie flat on the canvas, but actually seem to float above the dark surface. The visible texture in the paint reinforces this tactile quality and adds a handcrafted dimension to the minimalist design. A striking detail is the subtle balance between order and spontaneity. Although the forms appear to be placed randomly, a harmonious cohesion emerges that is reminiscent of stones shaped and brought together by flowing water. The dark background serves as a tranquil space in which each form can breathe independently.

With its understated colour palette and natural forms, the work exudes serenity, balance and timeless elegance. It offers a modern interpretation of natural structures and brings tranquillity and refinement to a contemporary interior.
