The majestic Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland, captured from a perspective that highlights its imposing power. The water cascades down from great heights with unstoppable energy, while at the bottom two small walkers are visible, almost insignificant compared to the overwhelming nature.
My inspiration came from the contrast between man and nature. During my trip through Iceland, I was struck by how insignificant we are in the face of such ancient landscapes. The waterfall, with its eternal movement, symbolises strength, freedom and transience, while the two people symbolise our vulnerability and curiosity.
The atmosphere is serene and powerful at the same time: the grey and taupe of the rocks, the deep blue of the water, and subtle tones of bronze and mauve create a timeless, almost picturesque look. It is an image that brings calm but also evokes awe.
The message I want to convey: beauty and strength lie not in control, but in surrender to the bigger picture. We are only a small part of something much bigger - and that is comforting.
What makes this work special in an interior is the combination of dynamism and stillness. The powerful water adds energy to the space, while the natural earth tones harmonise perfectly with modern, minimalist or Scandinavian interiors. It is a statement piece that evokes conversations and adds a sense of freedom and perspective to any room.
