About ‘Sunrise on Koh Mook’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

The world holds its breath in this quiet moment before the day awakens. The longtail boat rests on the shore of Koh Mook, abandoned, as if it had travelled through the night and is now weary from the whisper of the tide. The low tide has left it behind, embedded in damp sand, while the sea recedes quietly, just a distant heartbeat in the twilight.
The colours of the night are fading, but the sun has not yet awoken. The sky is a soft grey, streaked with fine lines of purple and gold, like fleeting promises of the coming morning. The boat, marked by salt and wind, silently tells of distant voyages, of endless waves, of hands that steered it and winds that carried it.
Shells glisten in the wet sand, reflections tremble in shallow puddles, and somewhere in the distance a bird calls out to the day. But here, on this quiet beach, time still belongs to the in-between - between low tide and high tide, night and morning, stillness and movement. The boat waits as if it knows that the waves will soon come again to guide it home.
