Ton Drijfhamer is a highly regarded image maker from Delfzijl, Netherlands, who combines his passion for photography with a deep-rooted love for the northern regions of the Netherlands. Ton describes himself as someone who is "alone, but together with the weather, the wind, and my camera, searching for the most beautiful light." This pursuit of perfection, particularly in the stunning and diverse landscapes of the 'Golden Raand' of the Wadden Sea, lies at the heart of his work.
A large part of Ton's photographs are taken in the area where he lives, especially along the expansive vistas over the Wadden Sea and the enchanting forest landscapes of Westerwolde and Friesland. For Ton, capturing the most beautiful light often requires early mornings, something he describes as both a challenge and a reward. The moment he arrives at a location, with the world still asleep and a hot cup of coffee in hand, marks the beginning of his creative search for the perfect image.
Ton's works focus on popular themes such as beaches, sunsets, landscapes, and the dynamic coastlines of the Wadden Islands and the Wadden Sea. Friesland, Groningen, and the North Sea also play a central role in his oeuvre, where the elements of water, nature, and the changing seasons continually offer new inspiration.
