Don't miss this location on your travels to New Zealand! One of the most famous fjords in fjord country, a national park. The Maori name for Milford Sound is Piopiotahi.
The most special of this fjord is how steep cliffs all around. Without a boat, the area is almost inaccessible.
In the middle of the picture you see Mitre Peak, one of the famous peaks. It is 1,692 meters high. Something you would not gamble when you see the picture.
I was very lucky because the two days I was there, it was dry. It rains 182 days a year! However, it was littered with sand flies, which I'm sure a week after my visit was particularly troublesome.
