I relive my childhood with this dreamy abstract painting which I named 'Sweet Meadows'.
As a little girl, I used to go sailing with a friend with the 'barge and a kloet' or, in other words, a boat and a sailing boom. We spent whole afternoons out there, sailing, lying in a meadow, dreaming about the most beautiful things we could think of. This abstract painting invites you to dream away too.
This artwork is part of a series, because I actually always work in series. This keeps me in a certain mindset, allowing me to apply the lessons of one painting to the next. Moreover, a series allows the buyer to create a coherent atmosphere in the home or at work.
The basis of this painting is a monotype, a unique print from which only one print can be made. I further enriched this monotype with oil pastels. This is an associative and intuitive process. I am guided by the colours present and my feelings. Only when the artwork is finished do I give it a name. The title 'Sweet Meadows' confirms the possibility of dreaming and escaping daily reality.
