How was your school today? That was the question my mother asked when I got out of school and always she was there. She would sit with tea waiting for me on the sofa in the living room. So then tea was drunk first and then the checkerboard came out. The couch had six cushions the middle cushion of the backrest went down and on top of that came the checkerboard. Mother on one side of the cushions and I on the other side of the cushions. There would then be a few games of checkers and talk about school, what I had done that day. And whether it was fun or not. It always stuck with me and since I always appreciated this, I did the same with my children when they came out of school. I am sure I am not the only one who has experienced this, and it may evoke memories in you too. The colours used here for the cups, checkerboard and daylily and the text, are pastels. Beige, yellow, light blue, pink, green and cream make this still life look retro.
As an artist, I like to enter a colorful world especially the world of flowers. This colourful and so positive world appeals to me enormously. Flowers spread a positive atmosphere because of the colors and the beautiful and diverse shapes and one can never get enough of that!.. Read more…
