Sometimes the world is so overwhelming, you only have to turn on the news and you are overwhelmed by misery. Never mind your inner world, what's going on there. How do you deal with that?
This work is a metaphor for being able to open a tap every now and then with sadness so as not to get too full, as a kind of regulation of sad emotions to make room again for nice and sweet things.
I regulate the world by letting the news in but in moderation, I know the most important things but I simply cannot worry about everything. I prefer to focus on my small circle of influence where things are good. And where I want to create as much beauty as possible to share with the world. Not to avoid seeing or denying the evil, but to better deal with it. The good and the bad, the dark and the light.
Hope is an important theme in my work.
This painting started as a sketch in my sketchbook, then I painted it on canvas in acrylic. Only later did I digitally create the work I became increasingly attached to in procreate.
