Out and about at dawn. Literally this time!
The Terhorsterzand is about 181 ha and is located south of Beilen; almost around the corner from my house. It is a drifting sand area that has been partially 'fixed', because 1900 pines have been planted. Most of the hilly terrain (100 ha) consists of heathland, interspersed with fens in the lower parts and jenever scrub on the higher parts.
The heather in this picture is still in bloom, close by you can see three juniper bushes and in the distance through the fog the beginning of the juniper thicket. An area worth visiting.
