A small but iconic building in the east of the island of Terschelling in the north of the Netherlands. This shelter (or the predecessor of this later version) was originally built in 1865 to provide shelter for shipwrecked sailors in this remote and uninhabited area of the island. Here they could wait for rescue or wait for the storm to pass to get on their way again.
