A lighthouse or lighthouse is a tower built near cliffs, or directly on them, straits, entrances to estuaries and harbours to warn ships of the cliffs or passage at night and in stormy weather, originally by means of an open fire and later by means of mirrors, lenses and a lamp.
Also harbours or port channels sometimes have one or more lighthouses that mark the entrance and often form a light line.
Along the Dutch coast there are eleven large lighthouses (so-called A-posts) and four smaller ones (B-posts). In addition, there are five more lighthouses on the banks of the IJsselmeer. Such lighthouses are the actual successors of the so-called fire pans and fire fines or fire beacon. Open fires burned in or on them.
My husband ( Arie Lok ) and I are both fanatical photographers so we regularly go out together to photograph beautiful landscapes, animals, birds and actually everything that is beautiful.
