The Dawn of the Cry – Sculptural Relief II

by AidasignArt

A human figure appears to be breaking free from the white surface with tremendous energy. The body appears both vulnerable and powerful, whilst the face turns upwards in a moment of intense expression. The wide-open mouth becomes the focal point of an emotional tension that extends far beyond the specific depiction.

The monochrome design reduces perception to the essentials: body, light, shadow and material. Skin and surface almost merge into one another, whilst fissured structures, folds and fractured sections give the impression that the figure is bursting through the surface surrounding it.

Particularly fascinating is the contrast between the calm white colour scheme and the enormous inner dynamism of the depiction. Nothing distracts from the figure’s physicality and its expressive posture. The work, from the series ‘ "Sculptural Dimensions – Kunst in 3D" ’, straddles the boundaries between figurative art, relief sculpture and expressive contemporary art. The ‘scream’ need not be taken literally. It can symbolise liberation, resistance, pain, being overwhelmed, or the desire to give expression to a deeply felt emotion.

‘Aufbruch des Schreis’ makes an inner state physically visible and transforms the two-dimensional wall into a seemingly living space.
