About "The Dike Gate in Hanseatic town Hattem"

by Peter Bartelings

About the artwork

This work shows the Dike Gate in Hattem. This ancient village is a Hanseatic city. Lying on the river IJssel, this village was able to prosper in earlier times through trade over water. Anyone visiting today will be amazed at the atmosphere the village exudes. It seems as if time has stood still! Access to the village is through the 13th century Dijkpoort, the last remaining in the Netherlands. Hattem is also home to the Anton Pieck museum.
This work was made in May 2023 and can be ordered in both colour and black and white. About the image maker: as a born and raised Amsterdammer, Peter feels a close connection to the city of Amsterdam. Over the years, he has captured the city of Amsterdam in many iconic works. Other cities at home and abroad also fill his portfolio. Landscape and macro photography are also part of his work. As a digital artist, he has also earned his spurs, especially with adaptations of old masters. Peters' work is widely sold and hangs on walls in various European countries.
