The Expressive Blue Cat, Artistic Cat in Ink and Watercolour by Angelique van den Berg

The Expressive Blue Tabby Cat – Modern Mixed-Media Pet Portrait

Splashes of colour, bold lines and unprecedented depth: this expressive mixed-media cat portrait perfectly captures the cat’s unique and regal character. A bold and artistic statement piece that fits seamlessly into a modern, boho or eclectic interior.

This unique artwork depicts a close-up of a cypress cat with a piercing, intelligent gaze. The foundation of the portrait consists of razor-sharp black ink lines that define the facial features and the intense green-yellow eyes with crystal clarity. Surrounding this strong foundation is a fascinating interplay of colour, form and texture.

The cat’s head is crowned with a lush, layered composition of finely detailed leaves, peacock feathers and abstract colour elements reminiscent of a modern nature journal.
On the left-hand side, the characteristic coat pattern is deconstructed into abstract, geometric blocks of colour. This creates an intriguing modern contrast with the realistic right side of the face.

Watercolour & Drip effect, Vibrant watercolour washes and splashes in shades of turquoise, ochre yellow, soft pink and deep black flow organically across the canvas and run downwards in graceful drips.

This painting is the ultimate eye-catcher for cat lovers looking for an artistic and unique portrait rather than a standard photograph. It looks fantastic as a central masterpiece in the living room, bedroom, a creative studio or a stylish reception area.
