Petra, the place where 25,000 people lived at the beginning of the era. The site was on an incense trade route. Tax revenue from the traders made the rulers of Petra wealthy. The city got its name from the Greek word "Petros" meaning "stones."
Today, Petra is one of the 7 wonders of the world that has many visitors every day. There are also many Bedouins walking around along with their camels, horses and donkeys.
Petra is a place that has been on my bucket-list for a very long time, combined with the Wadi Rum in Jordan.
To reach the treasure chamber, you first walk a route through the gorge of about 1.5 kilometers. Meandering builds excitement, waiting for the treasure chamber to appear.
With this work, I would like to convey the tension one feels just before they arrive at the treasure chamber. The great desire to finally see that place you have been dreaming of for a while.
Previously, I have had a taste of Morocco and what an Arab country had to offer. I can tell you, the culture feels SO good and the trip is well worth it.
It's mostly the feeling of: Oh there you are, I've been looking for you.
This is Jordan through my eyes.
