The Green Queen of the Alps

by Walter G. Allgöwer

From the Fellhorn, the view sweeps across a mountain landscape that seems as though time has stood still here for a moment. At its centre rises the Höfats, that unmistakable queen of the Allgäu, whose steep, grass-covered slopes glisten in the light like a green carpet draped over the mountain’s shoulders. Its elegant form combines the gentleness of alpine meadows with the wildness of bare rock, making it one of the most beautiful sights in the Allgäu Alps.
To the left in the background, the Hochvogel watches over the landscape. Its striking silhouette stands out clearly against the sky, lending the panorama a quiet grandeur. On the right, the Kleine Wilde complements the scene with its rugged form, adding a powerful touch to the picture. Together, the peaks form a stony harmony, forged from light, wind and millions of years of geological history.
Across the mountain slopes, shadows drift like silent clouds over a sea of grass and rock. Every ridge tells of storms, every slope of summer blossoms and long winters. In the clear air, the distance seems within reach, and the gaze is lost between sky and mountains.
It is a sight that not only captivates the eyes, but also touches the soul and allows one to experience the full beauty of the Allgäu.
