Named after estate “The Hoorneboeg,” which sits on a high point central to the area. The heavy trees surrounding the estate are home to birds of prey, bats, woodpeckers and owls. This is one of the few areas in 't Gooi where you can hear the field cricket on warm summer evenings. In the area are thousands of years old traces of human use of the landscape, such as burial mounds, urn fields and cart tracks. Traces can also be found from World War II, such as a tank trench.
