With this photo, you bring a unique piece of nature into your home. Like no other bird, the Jay, Jay or Shrieking Magpie (Garrulus glandarius) knows how to draw attention to itself with its loud screeching sound. For the first few days of its visit to my holiday home, I heard the bird but the Jay remained out of sight. One evening, I spotted the Jay and its feathers immediately stood out among the greenery. The beautiful black line on its head below the eye is striking, making its beak look longer. The light feathers around the eye look like make up accentuating the eyes and then the beautiful shades of blue on the wings. In short, a bird to look at closely and discover more and more details. It became a challenge for me to photograph this shy bird in all its beauty. In the area was a tree stump and from a certain spot, this stump looks like a hand with its thumb up. Ideally if I could photograph the Jay on it. That would be quite a task. Occasionally Jay would sit on the branch but not get a good shot. One morning around 6am, the light was perfect and after some food on the ground, the Jay sat down briefly on the trunk and I had my photo.
