The Zimmer Tower, a tower full of character dating from 1425, which originally served as the ramparts of the town of Lier, was formerly known as the Cornelius Tower. When Louis Zimmer donated a clock mechanism to the town in 1930, they decided to mount it on the now derelict tower. After some renovation work, the name of the tower was changed to the Zimmer Tower. Since 1980 it is a protected monument.
