Sometimes you automatically stumble across something beautiful... Such was the case deep in the forests of the Harz Mountains in Germany on the way to the highest mountain, the Brocken. During a rest break, I used the time to capture the magical feeling this forest gave us with the camera. Luckily, I also had a polarisation filter and an ND grey filter with me. By using these accessories, because of the slower shutter speed, you can render the flowing water gently smoothly, further emphasising the magical nature of this forest and creating an extremely atmospheric photo. The polarisation filter also removes the glare, giving you extra depth of field because you can now see the bottom of the stream. The graceful, winding tree trunk on the rock to the left of the image completes the picture perfectly. This atmospheric photo radiates an enormous sense of tranquillity and will do well on any wall, regardless of the room. Best regards, Hans Brinkel, freelance photographer
